Frequently Asked Questions

I don't like remote learning, can I study with you in person?

Of course! Our Oxford ground school is next to London Oxford Airport, near Kidlington, in the centre of the UK and very well connected to the road and rail network. We are more than happy to arrange personal study sessions for pilot training with a warm welcome at our premises.

Can I do residential study with Dan Cloran Ground School?

You can! We offer accommodation at our lovely period cottage on the edge of the Cotswolds. The pricing of this is seperate to the course but feel free to discuss your requirements.

Do I need any equipment?

The Navigation exam is the one that requires the most specific equipment, namely a chart, ruler, markers, circular flight computer (a.k.a 'Whizzwheel') and protractor. You may have some of these already so we can see what you've got and what you need. Some of the exams require no equipment so you can get on with these initially if you like until you're equipped for the others. The exams can be taken in any order to suit you.

When can I start learning with you?

We offer courses 7 days a week. For individual students, everything is by arrangement to suit your schedule and lifestyle.

Do I sit my exams with you?

Not directly with us. You would sit the exams with your own flying school when you feel ready. However if you have not yet started your flight training we can arrange for you to sit the exams at an Authorised Training Organisation (A.T.O) in Oxford who are able to invigilate your exams most days by arrangement.

How much does studying with Dan Cloran Ground School cost?

Join one of our small group day courses for ÂŁ300 (our classes are no more than three students), or book one-to-one tuition for ÂŁ600 per day. Our group day courses usually run from 9am to 5pm, though this can be flexible if students all agree on alternative timing. For one-to-one tuition, the day course can start at the time best suited to your schedule.

If you're simply looking for some advice with complex route planning, or want to brush up any forgotten knowledge from your theory exams, we also offer an hourly rate of ÂŁ89.
